Well it’s safe to say 2020 was a crazy year for everyone, and when it comes to the furniture industry it’s been even crazier.
Following lockdown, 2020 saw furniture sales rise by 300%! As a result, lead times were pushed back as far as 6 months.
Now that 2020 is behind us it’s a great opportunity to allow comfort and serenity into our homes. From rustic, sustainable design to bold statement pieces, here are 5 predictions for 2021:
Blue is here to stay! In 2020 we saw navy and cobalt blues a-plenty and we’re not at all disappointed to tell you that these bold shades will be sticking around well into 2021.
Bringing the inside, outside.
This years’ pandemic saw millions of us forced to stay home more than ever before. This new way of lockdown living will see people making the most of their outdoor space in 2021.
3: Scandinavian influence and minimalistic design.
2021 will be a year of clutter-free spaces, clean modern lines, and tranquility.
This will be introduced through cabinets and built in shelves, multifunctional furniture such as wall mounted fold down desks, and simple line art.
It’s all about texture!
A plush rug under your bare feet or a carved wooden accent piece at your fingertips. From marble beams to wooden wall panels, this year is set to see us experiment with textured walls and we’re excited for it.
Lastly but perhaps the most divided of all…
‘Granny Chic’ aka Grandmillenial style will be huge in 2021.
Quirky. Kitsch. Vintage.
Fabulous floral wallpapers and crazy carpets. Antique furniture and that welcoming scent of your grandmothers home-cooking. It’s back! Whether you go all out and create a timewarp or simply blend timeless treasures with contemporary – Granny Chic is IN.
